A friend of mine just told me something that floored me. Now, it should be mentioned that i am not easily floored. But when SleepDog told that he has been running with a gang, well that was a bit more than i was ready for. I knew that he had been traveling and on the bum. Hell he uses my place on occasion for showers, storage, and laundry.
He was over the other night and we were talking about the usual stuff we talk about; music, movie-making, and the existence of tetra-neutrons confounding all the current theories supporting the big explosion that started the universe
a moment of quiet contemplation on the subject Sleep broke the silence by telling me that he was a member of the PDG. It was not the news of his gang affiliation that shocked me. Rather it was that we did not talk about this sooner. Had i known.
You see i am a member of a group of vigilantes that step on the pant legs of fellas wearing droopy drawers, but until now have kept my affiliation secret as to protect my friends and family. But SleepDog being down with the notorious Pants Down Gang, gave me the strength needed to let my feeling on lassitudinous leggings be known.
You see the PDG has but one mission, to drop there pants as a mass collective whenever they see pants hanging below society's established level of ridiculous. oh yeah that and insider trading. |

You know bikepunx.com is taking forever to get started.
One of the roomates wants to hire a maid. A maid. you can well imagine the rant--so there is no need to bore you.
A maid. damn.
Went to see a movie, Kung Fu Hustle, damn, (the good form of this expletive) this movie was simply wonderful, so wonderful, Wonderful (my apologies for breaking out into verse) The woman playing Landlady is my latest movie crush, sure she is a gramma and everythign, but she has comic timing and the ability to do Kung Fu. Previous movie crushes on old ladies include, Maude, and that is pretty much it come to think of it. nothing terribly daring or adventurous to be sure, but this movie is worth seeing for the action alone. it is worth seeing for the comedy alone. it is even worth seeing for the underlying metaphorical analogies to Colonialism. Put them all together and you have a fun time at the movies, even for the eggheads that always try to go see art films and movies that make them feel superior. Not that these a necessarily bad films, just that there is no way in hell you are ever going to get me to convince me that i'll have a better time watching Waiting for Godot or The Player on the big screen than watching Dodgeball or Sin City.
The bottom-line is that people go to movies to have a good time. How the hell else can you explain the depression era movies?
If i wanna watch one of those thinking flicks on the big screen, i'll watch it on my own projector. Nothing is worse than sitting in a worm with a bunch of people that think their smarter than everyone because they watch foreign films that do not involve kung fu.
By the way i have recently discovered Mr Show. Have not had cable since high school and went to the video store and found a whole bunch of tv shows that i had never heard of. they sure made me laugh, some left me wondering whodunnit, and embarrassing as it may sound a couple brought a tear to my eye. Who the hell would dare kill an innocent television? They better read a page from Beckett's take killing the messenger from his take on Shakespeare.
Oh yeah the the post punk kitchen is the best damn kitchen cause other kitchens don't rock.

my love of country music and veganism leaves me conflicted. not because i long to attend a rodeo as a welcome guest or participate in an event other than the main attraction of the protester beat down. my love of country music would be made so much more fulfilling if i had a nice pair of boots.
my engineer and combat boots by vegetarian shoes are nice, but they just don't holler country. Lack of western style boots probably would not help me ride my bike, walk to the store... come to think of they would be about as functional as my vegan dress shoes. at least with my other boots i was able to work construction.
Come to think of it what is the real point of western style boots nowadays? i can actually count the people i know that own a horse on zero hands. apart from actually keeping feet in stirrups -- the only thing western boots are good for are sliding down slides in winter and skitching behind cars, again in winter. maybe line dancing, but that is a part of country music i'd rather avoid.
come to think of it there is really no point to get a pair of western boots except to make my cowboy hat look cool, but sadly i don't have one of those either,
oh, in other news, i met a guy that is going to help me with my website. |

the day following a night where a i got to see a really great documentary or low budget film simply inspires me to get something accomplished.
hell i can't even write anything for live journal today. my brain is going a million miles an hour. it's a good thing my other computer is busy doing my job. cause focus is not something i'm too good at today. i feel like one of those commercials pimping Adult Attention Deficit Disorder meds. They used to call it daydreaming, i guess they needed to create a drug so people could stop doing that.
go see Jerico's Echo when it comes to your town,
damn i want to find that story that is worthy to document. gotta couple, just want that one that kicks my ass. always looking, but after last night , i want it now.
also check out Gates of Heaven by Errol Morris. |

the documentary is showing just a couple of blocks from my place, which is nice, though a cross town adventure is seldom passed up.
this is truly a day for defiance.
shouts; to Israeli and Palestinian punx fighting for unity, Irish Republicans fighting for independence, and to all the vegans lookin for a regime change. Please don't forget that a revolutionary fights with its stomach, (with a recipe courtesy of the PPK)
there are more shouts, however this is all i got to give proper to at this time.

i am not one of these people that personifies an inanimate object only to tell people to kill it. i save my comments for the killing of those i will not shed a tear for when they are to be lined up against the wall when the vegan revolution begins. ya'll got the memo right? anyway. i watch television, granted it is rather limited. Simpson's, CSI (the Las Vegas one), House, and the Gilmore Girls, there are a couple of other shows like arrested development and the Andy Griffith show, but those are only if i am feeling particularly lazy.
Last night i was scheduled to have a Gilmore Girls date. Being a confident in my breeder status i can hold my head high and state quite emphatically that i am a fan of Lorelai and her daughter Rory, just not very loudly, or when anyone that i might know is around. Though my date knows, this is only because she wanted to know the specifics of why she was not to call be tuesday nights between 8 and 9. Suppose i could have lied and said i was cheating on her at that time, however after careful deliberation i felt that it was in my best that i allow her to see the sensitive side of my otherwise manly and powerful exterior.
Well last night was a rerun and she was late, so i was not really in the mood to listen to music so i flipped it over to American Idol.
Good god!
what the hell was going on.
Now my voice ain't so great, not bad for punk rock and rowdy ass country, but the caterwauling that 7 of those contestants passed off as talent left no doubt that the world would be subjected to another 5 years of Britney Spears and Usher.
Though, the woman i picked because she loved to play spades did not disappoint. Actually, she brought that proverbial "it".
anyway the doorbell rang and my wait was over as was the show.
but back to the subject of television
is the kill your television movement more than a simplistic slogan? why kill the messanger. there are actual human gatekeepers that dictate all programming on television. televison is merely a scapegoat. And why the hell are you directing so much anger at something that is not even alive?
i promised i would not rant |

was not thinking of Shazam! or He-Man and the Masters of the Universe... not to certain about Skeletor and his crew of inept villains.
Although, while on the subject of vegan characters in popular culture, has anyone ever seen Troll 2? granted there are zero trolls in the movie and it has nothing to do with Troll, it might very well be the most anti-vegetarian movie ever made.

readers of this journal, and as far as i know there are only two.
as you may know, or perhaps you don't
the right tool for the job is really essential to allieviating frustration from the day.
especially when you have a deadline.
nuff said.
i just picked up some new music this weekend. Cannibal Ox and the Scud Mountain Boys. well the Scud Mountain is a friend of mines pick, however, after spending twenty bucks on a cd i really was not in the mood to get much else, except for the ton of allied recording 7-inches i found at a thrift score. Now the first time i ever got an allied recording was the Unamused, now this band featured a now pretty famous or infamous depending on what side of the fence you walk. on my side, he is a hero, and oddly enough not a bad role model.
i digress.
there is something about punk rock, rap, trucountry and even some of the folkies that you just don't find too often in commercial top forty. i picked up Cannibal Ox, an old Aceyalone, and was introduced to Scud Mountain Boys. every thing i heard this weekend that i had not heard before was amazing.
since noe of the other hints have been given a try. here is another hint:
the vegan superhero had a name that was a clever combination of what he was and what he could do. |

this darn problem with responsibility is really keeping me from enjoying another great day.
it would be great if there was an exercise that removed this condition, sure it is good in a pinch, people can count on you for almost anything, you get bonuses, respect, and other accolades, but do you get to have actual fun?
i have a feeling the work day will be truncated.
the weekend is fast approaching and no plans have been made, granted plans are seldom made. for some reason this weekend seems a bit different. perhaps a plan should be formed, instead of the usual seeing what happens. though the spontaneity of not making plans often results in some pretty memorable adventures, it also winds up at the video store or some bar shooting pool.
now it is probably the weather or maybe it is the fact that i have an actual job that pays an actual paycheck, something is different this weekend. suggestions will be taken, even though my current sample to draw from is rather small. not to say that it is not rich, just that as far as i am aware there is only one person that is reading this journal.
thinking of a vegan superhero, does anyone remember his name? he had a tv show in the eighties.
hints will be dropped throughout the day. |

at the request of the ppk this journal has been created.
for anybody curious about the name i have chosen, you will have to read a book by stalin's favorite author, well at least the one he did not have killed. it was the end of the workday and all the names i wanted to use were taken so this was the only thing i could come up with.
i live in the mission district of san francisco.
there might be some other things to know, but this one gives a sense of place where these words on the screen are coming from. |
